Last night our church's youth choir put on a western themed dinner for all of our parents. This included dinner music, and then a play that followed. Everyone did a fantastic job, and we all had so much fun doing it! Hopefully the parents were blessed by it! We spent several hours on Thursday turning out fellowship hall into a western barn type scene. I absolutely loved the theme this year! It was so relaxed and we all got to have a bunch of fun and brush up on our country accents! ;-) I wasn't able to get pictures during the play because I was participating in it, but here are some pictures of the fellowship hall! The stage! Some of the guys and gals worked really hard on a make shift fence and several other decorations to decorate the hallway down to the fellowship hall! They all did a tremendous job! So thankful to all the people that worked so hard to make that night possible! Everyone did a great job!

Tomorrow evening our youth choir at church is putting on a Christmas concert. Fallowing the concert we will be hosting a cookie/brownie fellowship. For my sister Grace and I, this meant a morning of baking cookies. A LOT OF COOKIES! I had cookie dough up to my ears before 9:00 this morning! Because of the excess amount of cookies I had to make, I thought that I'd be smart and make a double batch to save time. Let me just say. BAD MISTAKE. The first pan of cookies came of the over looking flat as pancakes. I added flour and the rest turned out better, but the first pan was not salvageable. I ended up turning my flop into a tasty, unrepeatable recipe for truffles! BEST MISTAKE EVER! By this time Grace had another single batch of cookies going and they turned out WAY better! We ended up making over 6 dozen cookies and 2 dozen of my, ahum, flop. There are cookies and truffles everywhere I look!! And of course the whole baking Christmas cookies wouldn't be the same without Bing Crosby Christmas reruns! All the cookies are done and ready to go before 12:00! It's a miracle! :-)
Hope everyone is having an awesome week before Christmas!!! Have you ever noticed that most stores and large businesses just skip right past Thanksgiving, and head right into Christmas? Yesterday my parents, one of my sisters, and I went shopping. As we walked into Costco it was pretty clear that it had happened again! Christmas decorations were all over the place! Don't get me wrong. I love Christmas, but so many people get caught up in the excitement of Christmas and all the parties and all the Christmas programs, and all the presents. It's easy to do. We've all done it at one time or another. That being said, I'm so grateful to our youth choir leader for coming up with the idea of having a little tree set up in our choir room and each week till Thanksgiving we are writing different things that we are thankful for on a paper leaves and hanging them on the tree! It's been great seeing all the different things we can be thankful for!
So before you jump head first into Christmas, take a step back, and take some time to be thankful! :-) This past Saturday our youth choir, along with the deacons, hosted a Sound Of Music banquet for the seniors in our church. It was a lot of fun but a lot of hard work! The day before the banquet several of the choir members went to the church to transform the fellowship hall into and Austrian themed room! The guys got the stage set up really quickly and did a great job! The dining hall! The morning of the banquet I and a friend of mine got up, made ourselves so smoothies which we have dubbed "Toby Juice" (don't ask) and went on a bike ride to get us going (that may or may not have been a good idea). It definitely woke us up, and although it put us behind schedule a little, we still managed to get our hair done just in time (or maybe a few minutes late) to leave for the banquet! Once we got to church we went into full swing getting last minute stuff done! Such as warming up, and doing last minute practicing and getting instructions for serving food! Our faithful pianist Rosie warming up and doing some last minute practicing! Great Job Rosie! :-) The banquet/program/clean up went very smoothly and everyone worked together like a well oiled machine, thanks to the deacons, our "Youth Choir Mom," Rosie and Ariel, and all the hard working young people. It was such a blessing to be a part of. The seniors left singing the Sound Of Music selections that the youth choir performed. I had many of them come up to me a church yesterday and say what a blessing it was. One lady said that that was all that her and her friends had been talking about sense the night before. It is so humbling to think that God used us to bless and encourage them!
Yesterday afternoon a small part of our church's youth choir got together to practice for an upcoming banquet that we are doing for the Senior Saints at our church. The theme for the banquet is The Sound of Music. We are doing several pieces of music from the movie, such as "My Favorite things", "Maria", "The Goat Herd". Our director Mrs. Sheila and our faithful pianist Rosie spent the afternoon coaching us on our stage presence and giving us voice tips and helping us with parts. We hope to be a blessing to the Seniors and give them a night of pure enjoyment. *hopefully some pictures of the event to come later* The hills were alive with the sound of music! :-)

About Me
Hi! My name is Bethany. I'm so glad you've stopped in at my little corner of the internet! By way of introduction, I am a wife, musician, teacher, coffee lover, baker, nature lover, writer, and most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I'm super thankful that the Lord has given me this little outlet to share some of the things He has taught me, things that have inspired me, changed me or just gotten me excited about living life. My prayer is that what you read and see here will be an encouragement to your heart, bring you joy, and maybe even inspire you! Archives
